Some users of the Android operating system from Google have encountered a problem that led to the SMS text message service to stop working, and it seems that the reason was changes made by Google.
After the problem appeared, Google rolled back some changes to help solve it. The company confirmed to The Verge that the repair is already underway. “We identified the problem, and we started rolling out the fix yesterday. If automatic updates are disabled for users, we recommend updating to the latest version of carrier services through the Play Store to receive the fix.
The problem appears to be due to the recent update of the Carrier Services app, which enables modern mobile telecom services, including: battery improvements, support for improved features in the Android messaging app, according to the app's description on the Play Store. It appears that the app has had more than 1 billion installations.
The launch of version 50 of the app began on December 2, and reports of SMS-related problems began to appear around that time, according to 9to5Google, which specializes in Google news, the Android system and its devices.
The site stated that smartphones from companies such as: OnePlus, LG, Motorola, Samsung, and TCL have been affected by the problem. The site found that uninstalling the app fixed the problem.
Beginning Thursday, Google pulled the latest update and returned users to version 48 of the Carrier Services app.
The fix for the problem comes from Google, while the company has made it easier to work with Microsoft Office files, as it now allows users to modify the attached Office files directly in Gmail, just as it is the case with Google Docs files and Google Sheets spreadsheets.
